Next Seven Week Block

One week left with your students! How does it feel to be almost finished? Do you think you had enough time to make a difference? Remeber we have to balance the tutoring intervention with their class time in other subjects. They are missing time in another area so we can't continue tutoring them all. What would you like as an ideal tutoring session for the next time? Would it include tutoring the same student? An older or a younger student? What do think about tutoring more than one student next time? Some teachers feel a shorter 20 min session is better so the students miss less classtime. The next session may be quite different in terms of days we tutor and what part of the class we use to tutor. i.e. Our Mondays and Fridays may not be just for prep etc. What do you think?

I cant believe how fast the time flew by with my tutee. I know for a fact that a huge difference has been made with Andrew's reading level. I think that we should stay with the same weekly schedule that we have. It just makes everything so much easier. I would love to work with the same student again, but I don't want him missing too much class time. It does'nt matter the age of the student to me, just as long as he/she is willing to co-operate. I highly doubt that I would be able to tutor more then one student, but I'm willing to try it. I think that our sessions length should stay the same too, because we might not be able to do too much of a lesson with our students otherwise.

It feels...um well I don't really feel much of anything because I am sticking with my same student as before. So far though, things are going really well and I can see his confidence building every time we read. He knows he needs to improve, and he is eager to do better, which is a relief! I would like to stay with him, and I would tutor another student, but it would have to be a younger student and only for a while, or the time would be too much for me to handle I must admit. With all of us working at different times on tutoring and prep it will not be much different than before since we will all be doing our own things anyway. I think it will be fun hopefully, and I like having the longer time to tutor, because more practice = better reading!!!

I am happy with what I have done for my student. I watched him climb up two levels and I felt success. I think I would like to try an older student this time around, just for a change. I like the schedule as it is now because it is pretty basic. Knowing my prep classes are there is always comforting. I think a 20 minute session would be nice because it would be easier not to run out of things for your student to do. Especially if you have two students in the same grade level, you would need to find more lessons so you can use them between both students. I think I'd rather have one student so I could really monitor progress, but whatever I can handle two if I need to.

I believe I have made a lot of progress. I think this time though,I want to try to take it down a notch and work with someone who is more concentrated:)I think I could make more progress with a different student.

I feel I have had enough time to make a difference with Zack. He was already an average reader, but his only problem was that he just didn't like to read, but I feel I helped build his confidence and fluency in reading. I'm happy with the new schedule. I'm ready for the challenge of Chris Green and I'm excited to tutor someone from Kindergarden. I like that the times are mixed around this time becasue I found last time, I didn't need all the extra prep time. With our prep time now at different times, I think I might be more effective with getting stuff done because I won't have the distraction of talking to friends. I also think the 20 minutes will work better and be more effective. I'm ready for the new challenge:)

I cannot believe how fast the time has passed, I'LL BE A GRADUATE B4 YOU KNOW IT! I like seeing Nathanial on the days we have now and he seems to think they work out well too. I love working with Nathanial, he has lately been more calm and eager to work. I enjoy working with Nathanial, but because I would like to become a Primary Teacher after University it would be nice to have some experience prior to teaching that level. I do believe that I will be able to tutor more than one student, time-management will simply be a MUST. I do think our session lengths are great, but we could go a little eaily, sometimes I don't have enough time to do evrything I would like to with Nathanial (especially when he is in a unfocused mood).

I feel I used the time well, The prep time gives me time to get the work ready without rushing. He seemed to imporve well but I am not sure how much he enjoyed it I think Brad and John are closer so he will probably like that match up better. He read alot of the caper and seemed to enjoy it and he did well during running records. With another tutor im sure he will just contiune climbing up reading levels.
